A collaboration between the Iowa State Patrol and Farm Bureau Insurance to reduce distracted driving has been joined by the Governor who declared the last week of May “End Distracted Driving Week in Iowa”.
Among the resources available to promote safe driving choices is a video series starring Iowa State Patrol Officer Sargent Ludwig who provides tips to Iowa drivers to stay safe on the road.
The National Safety Council says nine Americans are killed and 100 injured every day in distracted driving accidents. The Iowa Department of Transportation says distractions due to a phone or other device resulted in 1,207 Iowa crashes in 2017 alone. The combined efforts of Iowa State Patrol, Farm Bureau and the Iowa Governor to put the kibosh on distracted driving will hopefully make traveling safer in the state.
Despite renewed efforts to reduce distracted driving, unfortunately we still see a lot cars weaving in their lane because the driver is texting while driving.
